Nocs Provisions. 0.8% to 1.5%. Then 0.5X to 4X. Then the raise.
Chris launched Nocs Provisions into a category most people think is settled — binoculars — with a design-led take aimed at people who actually go outside. The brand was doing $5–10K a month and stuck there, running ads that lost money on every click.

What we put in place.
- 01
Conversion rate rebuild
Rebuilt the path from landing to checkout around how people actually buy optics — spec confidence first, brand second.
- 02
Ads structures
Rebuilt the account architecture so spend concentrated where intent was, instead of spreading evenly across everything.
- 03
Baseline measurement
Established a true conversion baseline first, so every change afterward could be judged honestly.
- 04
Scale readiness
Unit economics documented to the point they could survive diligence from an outside investor.
The challenge
Where it was stuck.
A 0.8% conversion rate and a 0.5X ROAS is a specific kind of trap: every dollar spent on ads destroys fifty cents, so growth actively makes things worse. Standing still is the profitable option, which is no way to run a company.
The category compounds the problem. Optics buyers research hard and compare specs, so a site that leads with lifestyle imagery loses the people most likely to buy.
The solution
What we actually did.
Site first, ads second — the same order every time. Chris refined the storefront using our conversion tools until the baseline moved from 0.8% to 1.5%. An 87% lift, before a single ad change.
That lift is what made advertising viable. At 1.5%, the same click is worth nearly twice as much, which changes what you can afford to pay for it. Only then did we rebuild the ad structures.
The results
What actually happened.
ROAS went from 0.5X to 4X in two months. Ads stopped being a tax on the business and started being the growth engine.
The real outcome was strategic rather than tactical. With defensible unit economics, Chris could raise capital and scale — an option that simply doesn't exist at 0.5X.
